Playing WORLD CONQUEST via the 'net!
Playing World Conquest via the 'net is easily done through file transfers
between you and the turn-processing computer located at our office.
Here is how to get started:

1) Pickup the game package from us via one of the following methods: ftp - uuencoded files - email request - our bbs

2) After installing our client (GUI) WCVIEW, give your units "marching orders" and fill out the registration form.

3) Email the *.eml files that are created by WCVIEW to our email address: ptsbill@crl.com

4) We will email the 1st turn's results back to you within 24 hours (except on weekends)

5) Review the 1st turn's results using WCVIEW and give your combat units "marching orders" for turn 2!

6) Email turn 2's *.eml file to us for AUTOMATED (every 2 hours) processing!

IMPORTANT TECHNICAL DETAILS FOR EMAIL PLAY

SENDING IN A TURN The turn file MUST be sent as a text message! Insert the *.eml file that WCVIEW generates in the body of a text message. Do not use a mail program which mails the file as an "attachment". To repeat: DO NOT USE FILE ATTACHMENTS!

RECEIVING A TURN The file you receive must be saved in the WC directory as a *.zap filename. WCVIEW will look for files with .zap extension and remove the encryption so that the game turn may be viewed by WCVIEW.

MORE GAME DETAILS: WCVIEW WCVIEW can only be used on a DOS platform (PC/clone).

When you play WC via the 'net, you must use our client/GUI program, WCVIEW.

WCVIEW provides a graphical view of the game board! WCVIEW allows you to review the results of the last turn, and give your units "marching orders" for the upcoming turn. When you have completed giving your units "marching orders," email the new orders back to our computer for further processing.

GENERAL GAME DETAILS: WC is a simultaneous turn-processed game (versus sequential play as a typical board game usually operates). This means that ALL players' games turns (games can be 1-12 players) for any one WC game are entered into the computer at the same time in order to process the turn and publish the results.

Whenever a game turn of WC is processed, our computer will email you the results. The game turn file must be copied in the WC directory using a [*.zap] filename extension, where our client program, WCVIEW, can find the game turn file.

The frequency of turn processing depends on the type of WC game you are playing. Because this is a SIMULTANEOUS processed game, all players MUST have submitted their turns in order to process the game turn. Here are guidelines we use:

Manditory Number of players in game As early as: As late as: DUE DATE?

1 Every 2 hours 30 days N 2 Every 2 hours 30 days N 3 - 12 * 1 week 3 weeks Y At present, games with 3 or more players are moderated by our computer with HUMAN oversight. Due to this we establish regular turn intervals of 1-3 weeks at the start of the game.
