Currently,
we I have all of the newsletters I could put my hands on
and converted them to HTML. I know there are years worth
of gaps in here so if your sitting on some electronic or
paper versions out there, bring them to the meeting so I
can convert them.
Starting January 1st 1998,
the newsletter is no longer being printed and mailed out.
Instead, the new newsletter has been developed
specifically for the World Wide Web and posted
there immediately on the start of each month.
Three advantages are
achieved by publishing to the Internet. The First is that
we can use some of the features inherent in the
electronic media to make it more interesting and
interactive. These features allow the use of interactive
quizzes, discussion forums for communication, and more
graphics.
The second advantage is a
reduction in costs associated with printing and mailing
using US postal service. Printing costs of color printing
and $.32 cents per newsletter limited our ability to seek
a wider audience and kept our dues higher than need be.
The final reason is that
we hope to reach a wider audience with the new format and
give something back to the brewing community at large.
Rather than putting effort into entertaining and
educating our members alone, the new format is hoped to
promote homebrewing and beer appreciation for all.
