North Fork Feather River

For many years the CSPA has been extensively involved in protecting and restoring the wild trout fishery and ecosystem of the NFFR watershed resulting from environmental impacts caused by several hydropower dams operated by the Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Before the construction of the dams, the NFFR was considered the finest wild trout fishery in California. The CSPA's protection and restoration activities for the watershed range from Lake Almanor to Oroville Reservoir. The NFFR watershed contains the following PG&E hydro project facilities: Lake Almanor and Canyon Dam; Butt Valley Dam and Reservoir; Belden Forebay Dam and Reservoir; Rock Creek Dam and Reservoir; Cresta Dam and Reservoir; and Poe Dam and Reservoir. The PG&E Upper North Fork Feather River Project; Rock Creek-Cresta Project; and the Poe Project will be relicensed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The fate and future of the NFFR watershed will be based on decisions made by FERC. Shown below are some of the CSPA activities with state and federal regulatory agencies in recent years to protect and restore the degraded fishery and watershed of the NFFR.
